Dingle & Slea Head Day Tour

Come with us on a tour of the Dingle Peninsula and in particular Dingle Town and the Slea Head Drive.

Our tour starts at a location suitable to you. We will travel to Inch Beach for our first view of Dingle Bay. We will then drive on to Dingle Town, a lovely coastal fishing town with a lot of character and plenty to explore. From here we tour onto the coastal portion of the Slea Head Drive. This area was the location where the film ‘Ryan’s Daughter’ was filmed in the early 1970’s, and in 2016 the crew of ‘Star Wars’ came to film here too.Along this route we will see dramatic coastal scenery at Dunquin and other viewing points. We will see the Blasket Islands, and we have the option of visiting the Blasket Islands Information Centre. Here you will learn the history of island life in Ireland, with a particular emphasis on the literary tradition on the Blasket Islands.

From viewing the Blaskets we will travel through the Gaelic speaking village of Ballyferriter and onto Kilmalkeder Church – the ruins of a 12th century church within which we will see genuine ogham stones. Our tour moves onto Dingle Town for a late lunch and time to explore this lovely and very special town.

During this tour you will learn many aspects of Irish history. The views of the Atlantic Ocean on from Slea Head on a clear day can only be described as fantastic. This route is the Wild Atlantic Way at its best. Expect to come across very narrow roads which hug the coastline, your guide will navigate you safely through while you enjoy the scenery…

Dingle town is a gem. It attracts many artists and has a bohemian feel about it. Within the town it has many lovely pubs, our stop in Dingle will allow you savour the atmosphere. Listen to the locals conversing in the Irish language, but don’t worry, they will only be delighted to talk to you about life in Ireland.

This tour will last approx. 8 hours. It will travel at your pace and there will be endless opportunities for taking in the scenery and photographing the views.
